Endometriosis And CBD
What is Endometriosis
Also known as "endo', endometriosis is a typical ailment that affects women's health. Its name is derived from the term endometrium, which describes the healthy tissue that lines the uterus or womb. The presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus in most patients characterizes endometriosis.
At least 10% of women between the ages of 15 and 44 have endometriosis, but it can happen to anyone with periods. It most frequently occurs on or near the pelvic or abdominal reproductive organs, such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes, the ligaments surrounding the uterus, and the pelvic cavity lining. Less frequently, it can also occur around the bladder, the rectum, the stomach, and the intestines. The exact causes of endometriosis are still unknown.
Symptoms of Endometriosis
Pain is one of endometriosis' most typical symptoms. Women experience different kinds of pain, which is generally excruciatingly painful. It can manifest as agonizing menstrual cramps that may radiate into the lower back or stomach. The pain may get worse over time.
Some women experience pain in the pelvis and lower back that lasts for a long time and is chronic. Some feel pain during sex. Others have painful bowel movements or pain when urinating during menstruation are symptoms of intestinal discomfort.
Endometriosis can cause any, all, or none of these symptoms in affected women.
Other signs can include infertility - the inability to have children, heavy, long-lasting, and sometimes erratic menstruation patterns, low energy, and diarrhea during a menstrual cycle. Additionally, unlike healthy endometrial tissue inside the uterus, endometrial tissue grows and does not shed during a menstrual cycle. This buildup in the uterus can result in painful cysts and inflammation.
Pain Management with CBD
Unfortunately, there's no cure for endometriosis, and treatment might be challenging. Therapy seeks to reduce symptoms to prevent the disease from interfering with your daily life. Pain and inflammation may briefly ease with simple home treatments like a hot water bottle or salt-water bath. The benefits of comfort and stress reduction are helpful in addition to other forms of pain management that are safe and healthy. Treatment options vary between hormone therapies and pain medication. Women with endometriosis treated with opioids at baseline were 61% more likely to continue receiving opioids long after diagnosis. The good news is there's a more natural – and ever more popular – alternatives to manage pain, such as CBD.
CBD, also known as cannabinoid extracted from hemp, has been shown to relieve symptoms caused by certain conditions, such as chronic pain. It is not impairing, causes a high, or brings the same effects as THC - a chemical found in marijuana. Also, CBD does not cause dependency; therefore, it is safe. CBD has been known to offer the highest relief from pain and inflammation in self-managing women. The results of the use of CBD products and pain relief are encouraging.
Full-Spectrum CBD or Broad-Spectrum CBD
Full-spectrum CBD includes many cannabinoids and compounds of the cannabis plant present in hemp plants, including up to 0.3% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – a cannabinoid that can make one euphoric. THC binds with brain receptors that control pain. Broad-spectrum CBD, on the other hand, contains all the same cannabinoids or compounds as full-spectrum CBD without THC. The choice of whether to use either is based on every individual. If you haven't tried either and a new to CBD products, broad-spectrum CBD is a good option.
